So what has felt like years I realized only recently has been a few months. Before we left I was thinking boy – a lot has changed in the past 6 months it would be good to just take a break. Then I realized that it has not been 6 months since we found out Michael was autistic but, really a little over 3 and just about 3 months of therapy.
Pete gets to pick his vacation in January and was ‘lucky’ enough to get February vacation week off. After much deliberation we decided to take a vacation and head to Cars Land in California (a 6 hour flight!) Of course upon boarding the plane Pete’s first thought was “how did we not talk each other out of this – we are crazy!” After an interesting flight and a couple bumps along the way it was nice to “disconnect” from work and everything else for a couple days.
We made sure to break up Disney and only go for 2 partial days during our trip and made sure they were not back-to-back. Disney is definitely a little sensory overload but, we made it through with very little meltdowns from either one. The biggest hit was the Pixar parade followed by the Character Breakfast.
